Soulful Saregama (SOLO Singing)
SGRDwelcomes all the singers to RESONANCE – bring with you the talent of singing potpourri of retro or contemporary songs and enlighten our ambience with your melodious and mellifluous singing.
RULES
- Maximum time limit is 2-3 minutes.
- No orchestra, only synthesizer/ dholki / Karaoke/Guitar can be used.
- Maximum entries from each college are 3.
- Maximum two accompanists on instruments allowed.
ANYBODY CAN DANCE (SOLO DANCE)
RULES
- Bring your own mp3s,cds.
- Bring your own props and costumes.
- Maximum time allowed 2-3 minutes
- Maximum entries from each college is 3
BEAT BUSTERS (GROUP DANCE)
Dance - A little insanity that does us all, a lot of good. Dance along with music, has always dynamically expressed the spirit and personality of every culture. It’s time for you to exhibit your talent and insanity through this group events. Be a part of RESONANCE 2018 and rock the stage with your scintillating and heart throbbing performance. So, we invite you to rock and roll on the grand event of resonance .
RULES
- Dance forms – Western / Bollywood / contemporary
- 6-15 participants per team with 5-7 min time limit are allowed.
- Participants are required to bring their own audio / mp3 cd.
- Teams are required to be present with their own props, no props and costumes will be provided by the institute.
- Use of injurious material is not allowed. Only 1 entry from each college.
THE DANCE WHISPERERS (COUPLE DANCE)
Couple dance is the dance whose basic choreography involves coordinated dancing of two partners as opposed to individuals dancing alone or individually. In a non-coordinated manner and as opposed to groups of people dancing simultaneously in a coordinated manner. It’s an open invitation for all the couple dancers to come up and show their synchronization, compatibility with their vibrant performance and set the stage on fire.
RULES
- Two participants per team may be boy-girl / girl – girl / boy – boy per team.
- Maximum time limit is 3-5 minutes.
- Mp3 cd’s, props and costumes will be brought by the participants themselves.
- Only 2 entries from each college.
EMPIRE OF ‘GABHROOZ’ (BHANGRA)
Bhangra born as a folk dance to celebrate the warm harvest festival in Punjab. While it ushered the joyous month of harvest, it filled the air with sounds of drums, vocals and claps. Generating warm patriotism with music full of excitement, Bhangra takes the form of boliyan accompanied with the bass of the dhol. This high energy dance is primarily a male dance.

- 8-10 participants per team (including accompanists) are allowed with the time limit 10-12 minutes.
- Teams are required to be present with their own props, instruments and costumes.
- No MP3, CD or Cassettes are allowed.
- Only 1 entry from each college.
GIDDHA PAO KURIYO (GIDDHA)
Giddha is Punjab’s most famous folk dance for women. In giddha, the women enact verses called boliyan, folk poetry, and dance with a clapping rhythm. The dance rhythm is set by the dhols and the distinctive hand claps of the dancers.
RULES
- 10-14 participants per team (Max 4 accompanists) are allowed with the time limit 10-12 minutes.
- Teams are required to be present with their own props, instruments and costumes.
- No MP3, CD or Cassettes are allowed.
- Only 1 entry from each college.
KEY-NOTES – INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
RULES
- The maximum time allowed to each team is 2-3 minutes including sound check time.
- No vocals allowed – only instrumental performances.
- No pre-recorded Music or sample sound is allowed.
- Organizing committee shall not provide any instruments/accompanists.
- Maximum entries from each college is 2
- Maximum 4 members allowed per team.
DEBATE
Topic for Debate: Space Exploration - A Giant Leap or Costly Gamble
Date: 04/04/2025
Time: 9:00 am onwards
Venue: College Auditorium
Everything in this world has more than one side to it. Even a 1 rupee coin which unfortunately has lost its value in today’s world has two different sides.
Entente? Not yet is a phrase used for debate. The participants will be given a topic to support either of the sides of the coin: for or against unambiguously. So if you think you have the conviction to prove a point. Welcome aboard.
FORMAT
- 2 participants in each team. One for and one against the topic.
- The time given to each candidate will be 3-4 minutes.
RULES
- The topic will be displayed on 1st April 2025 i.e 2 days before the event on website and display boards.
- The final judgement will be decided according to individual performance of the participants.
- Each participant will prepare "FOR" and "AGAINST" of the provided topic . On spot lucky draw decision will be taken to decide the notion for which participant will speak.
- Debate will only be conducted in English Language.
- The First bell will be at 4 minutes as a warning.
- The Second bell will ne at 4 minutes 20 seconds as a disqualification.

RESONANCE CHOREOGRAPHY
RULES
- The theme of the performance should have social relevance / emotional relevance/ one short story.
- 8-15 participants per team are allowed. The contestants may introduce the composition.
- The time allowed is 5-7 minutes.
- Organizing committee shall not provide any instruments/accompanists. The contestants have to arrange the musical accompanists/ ready music cassettes / CDs of their own. The play ready music cassettes/CDs and playing electronic instrument should be installed before the actual performance. No extra time shall be given for this purpose.
- The contestants have to arrange for necessary costumes on their own.
- Maximum entry from each college is 1.
GLAM N FASHION (FASHION SHOW)
RULES:
- 20- 30 Participants per team are allowed with heels.
- Theme for the show - “Nature” (No religious or political theme)
- Dresses, Accessories, Music, Makeup all to be arranged by respected teams.
- Time limit 20 to 30 min
- Maximum entry from each college is 1.
Spoof (SKIT competition)
A play is a story that is written to be acted on a stage or in a theater. A skit is a short play that is usually performed in a more informal setting like a club meeting or a classroom. Skits are often funny. Acting is to perform, to play a part, to pretend to be a character in a play for theater, a movie, television or radio. The written text for a skit or play is called the script.
RULES
- Act should be theme based.
- 5-10 participants per team are allowed.
- Participants are required to bring their own instruments and required material
- Time limit: 7 to 12 minutes.
Maximum entry from each college is 1.
WORD PLAY WITH ‘RAP’ (RAP COMPETITION)
RULES
- It is a solo event, 2-3 accompanists are allowed if needed.
- Bring your own CDs, MP3 & other materials.
- Maximum entries from each college are 3.
- Time limit is 1-3 min.
LAUGH O LOUD (LAUGHTER SKILL COMPETITION)
- It can be group or solo event, participants allowed are 2- 10.
- Maximum entries from each college are 2.
- Time limit is 3-4 min.
MR. & MS. RESONANCE 2025
- Maximum entries from each college are 4 (2 boys, 2 girls)
- There will be 3 rounds – Personality, talent round, questions and answer round.
There is no Specific dress code, you can wear your own style
